Rent and service charges - changes to direct debit payments

If you are one of our customers, you should have received a letter in February informing you about your rent for 2020-21.

This included all the information you should need to know, but as a reminder for those of you who pay by Direct Debit:

  • Your payments will be automatically adjusted and our payment provider allpay Ltd will be writing to you to confirm your new amount. There is no need for you to contact us or your bank about this.

As your letter explained, if you are one of our tenants your rent will be increasing by 2.7% from April 2020, in line with government guidance. If you are one of our shared owners, your rent will change according to the terms of your lease. If you pay service charges, these may be changing too.

This is our first rent increase for rental properties in five years and we wrote to you in December last year to give you advance notice of this to help you plan your household budgets.

If you have been a Cottsway tenant for some time, you may recall that we have reduced rent in rental homes by 1% every year for last four years. Rent for your home will still be lower than it was five years ago after the increase in April. 

Your rent payments enable us to manage, maintain and improve existing Cottsway homes.
