Fourteen homes on a new development in Gloucester are being made available for affordable rent after being secured by Cottsway Housing.
We purchased the homes – all two-bedroom apartments - from developer Matthew Homes at the new Earls Park development in Tuffley Crescent, within walking distance of Gloucester city centre and the waterside setting of Gloucester Quays and docks, with the support of £609,000 grant funding from Homes England.
Colin Bloodworth, our Assistant Director of Development and Assets, said: “We’re very pleased to have secured these market sale homes and to be providing all 14 for them for affordable rent. I would like to thank Homes England for supporting us in this.
“We provided 186 new homes in the last financial year and have an ambitious development programme to continue delivering more much-needed affordable homes to support those in housing need, while maintaining our existing homes to a high standard.”
The first seven apartments have now been handed over to us and the rest are expected to be ready early in the new year.
Steph Townsend (pictured) is a new Cottsway customer looking forward to moving in to one of the new apartments with her six-year-old son. She said: “It’s been an unsettling few months for us as we were made homeless. It will be amazing to have somewhere to call home again – I’ve not told my son yet so it will be a huge surprise and I can’t wait to see the look on his face!
“Earls Park is close to my workplace and we have family who live nearby so it’s in the ideal location for us too. I’m very excited.”
