Contracts exchanged for new affordable homes in South Marston

We've exchanged contracts with Taylor Wimpey to deliver 31 new affordable homes in South Marston, near Swindon, as part of the new Woodlands development.

The homes will comprise a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties - 16 will be for affordable rent and 15 for shared ownership, helping to meet a range of local housing needs.

Cottsway is the largest provider of affordable housing in West Oxfordshire and we continue to expand our presence in the Swindon area. We already have 29 homes under construction at Woodlands, delivered by developer Vistry, and have also just exchanged contracts with them for a further 14 properties - eight for affordable rent and six for shared ownership - due to be built by March 2027.

All of these homes form part of the wider multi-developer Woodlands scheme, which will deliver a total of around 2,380 homes once finished.

Colin Bloodworth, our Director of Development and Partnerships, said: “Securing these new homes in South Marston is another step in providing more homes for Swindon, where there is high demand and need for affordable homes providing opportunities for those who cannot afford to rent or buy on the open market.”

Lucy Lockhart, Land & Planning Director at Taylor Wimpey Bristol, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Cottsway on the Woodlands development. Located just off the A420, the site offers excellent connections to Oxford, Bristol and London. With nearby schools, local shops and green spaces - including a community woodland - Woodlands will be an attractive place to live for commuters and nature lovers alike.”
