Lodgers
A lodger is someone who lives in your home and pays you rent. Family members and partners who live with you are not lodgers.
You can have a lodger if your home does not become too crowded. You must get our permission before a lodger moves in.
- You cannot rent out your whole home to someone else.
- You must continue to live at the property.
- You are responsible for anyone you invite into your home, including a lodger.
- If you receive benefits, you must tell the organisation that pays them about any rent you receive. This may change the amount of benefits you get.
