Tenancy fraud is the act of obtaining or misusing a social housing tenancy. If you suspect this is happening in one of our properties, we want to know.
Why does it matter? It denies homes to genuine people in need and it costs money that could be used elsewhere.
We work with local authorities and other agencies to investigate tenancy fraud, using information-sharing protocols, but we also rely on information from members of the community to be our eyes and ears and to report things that just don’t seem right.
Tenancy fraud includes a tenant:
- Not using a property as their only and principle home.
- Obtaining a tenancy through a false statement.
- Fraudulent claims for succession.
- Sub-letting the whole property to another person(s).
- Securing a home using a false document or claiming to be someone else.
- Securing a home by giving a false statement, such as claiming to be homeless, for example.

Do you suspect tenancy fraud at one of our properties?
You can report tenancy fraud to us via our online form below. All information is treated in the strictest confidence and your identity will be protected. Please give us as much information as possible to help our investigations.
You can report anonymously, but this may prevent us from being able to fully investigate and may limit the action we can take.
It is therefore extremely helpful if you can give your phone number or email, even if you do not want to give your name, so that we can check information where needed and provide you with updates.
