This Get Online Week we’re running two free workshops for our residents to come along and learn everything they need to improve their IT skills and get online.
Get Online Week is the UK’s biggest digital inclusion campaign. Delivered by the Good Things Foundation since 2007, it aims to give everyone the chance to find the help they need to improve their online skills.
Cottsway customers can book onto two sessions taking place at our offices in Station Lane, Witney on:
• Tuesday 16th October 10am-1pm – with practical hands-on experience of tablets, including how to use the touchscreen, download apps, browse the internet and use email.
• Wednesday 17th October 20am-3pm – to learn about keep information secure online and to find out about online job searching and application tools. As well as covering privacy settings, the session will focus on how to use LinkedIn.
Megan Stanley, our community investment officer, said: “We’re launching a new website early next year to give our customers more ways of interacting with us digitally and improve their online experience. We also run a tablet loan service, to provide the opportunity for people try out equipment.
“These events are designed so all customers can take advantage of our digital services, as well as accessing jobs, energy bill savings, shopping discounts and staying in touch with family and friends. The new Universal Credit can only be applied for online, so it’s vital people aren’t left behind.
“The events will be friendly and informal, so I’d encourage customers to come along to learn new skills or start from scratch. It’s a chance to meet others in the same boat, and learn in a safe and free space.”
The events are free to all customers and residents of Cottsway including leaseholders, tenants, shared owners and their immediate family that live in the property and are over the age of 16.
