Cottsway staff raise thousands for local hospice

Our staff have successfully raised £6,500 in support of Oxfordshire-based Sobell House Hospice.

A small group of staff have given their time to host a series of activities over the past year, including raffles, quiz nights, sweepstakes, bake and tuck shop sales, to raise funds. Colleagues from across the housing association have generously contributed throughout.

Sobell House Hospice provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care to adults living in Oxfordshire with a life-limiting illness, and support to their family and friends.

Charley Watts, Corporate Relationships Fundraiser from Sobell House Hospice Charity says: “We are absolutely blown away by the kindness and support that Cottsway Housing has given us over the past year. The incredible £6,500 raised will make such a difference to our patients and the local community we support.

“Sobell House Hospice cares for over 4,500 people each year, and with an ageing population, our services are needed now more than ever. Support like Cottsway’s helps ensure we can continue to be there for those who need us in the future.

“To put into perspective just how much your support means, £6,500 could fund over 267 hours of specialist nursing care for our patients and for that we are truly grateful.”

Cottsway is West Oxfordshire’s largest social housing provider and, as well as providing nearly 6,000 homes for affordable rent and shared ownership to more than 13,000 customers, we are committed to delivering social value within the communities we serve.

Staff here run a Charity Committee, volunteering their time each year to fundraise for a chosen cause. Colleagues from across the organisation are invited to nominate charities and take part in a staff vote to decide which organisation to support.

Oxfordshire Mind has recently been selected as the Charity of the Year for 2026-27.

Alex Hart, Chair of our Charity Committee for 2025-26, said: “Through our work with our customers and local communities, we see first-hand the difference organisations like Sobell House make. Every year, they care for over 4,500 people and their loved ones so it’s been great to see colleagues come together over the past year to support such an important cause. Every event, donation and contribution helps to make a real difference, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved collectively.”

We also offer year-round grants to support our customers and community projects. For more information, see our Community Fund
